Residence
The site for this proposed house is in Jinja. The site is near
the river Nile.
But from the site is only a limited view of the river –
this is the constraint which shapes this design.
The house is given a counter direction to the general orthogonality
to tilt the view at the balconies and the living rooms to the
river.
By adding a half storey height to the living areas, an interesting
interplay of spaces between single storey and 1.5 storey heights
is created.
Unfortunately the client – a Ugandan living in the Netherlands
- thought the design too complex to be executed in Uganda (despite
my informed advice to the contrary).
It’s my first comprehensive attempt at using CAD for 3
dimensional drawing.
